Instagram application lets billions of people around the world connect over photos and videos. Lately, Instagram released a new application called Threads.

Instagram Threads is a messaging app developed by Instagram. It is primarily designed for close and private communication with a select group of people. It allows you to create groups or “threads” with your close friends and share photos, videos, messages, and stories with them.

Instagram’s vision with this app is to create a positive and creative space to express your ideas. With Threads, you can follow and connect with friends and creators who share your interests including the people you follow on Instagram and beyond. And you can use our existing suite of safety and user controls.

Since it is a new application, here are some key features of it :

Close Friends

Threads focus on connecting you with your close friends on Instagram. You can create a dedicated group or thread with a select group of people.

Camera-first

The app has a camera interface that lets you quickly capture photos and videos. You can share these moments instantly with your selected group of friends.

Status Updates

Threads has a feature called “Status”. This allows you to share what you’re currently doing or feeling with your close friends.

Messaging

Threads allow you to have private conversations with individual friends or within your created groups. You can send text messages, photos, videos, and even share Instagram Stories with each other.

Privacy Settings

You have control over who can message you on Threads. You can customize your privacy settings to allow messages from everyone on Instagram or limit them to your close friends only.

How it works?

You log in using your Instagram account and posts can be up to 500 characters long. Posts include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length.

It gives you the opportunity to follow the same accounts you do on Instagram. You can also Find more people who care about the same things you do.

The Feed includes threads posted by people you follow, and recommended content from new creators you haven’t discovered yet. You can easily share a Threads post to your Instagram story, or share your post as a link on any other platform you choose.

You can control who can mention you or reply to you within it. Like on Instagram, you can add hidden words to filter out replies to your threads that contain specific words. You can unfollow, block, restrict or report a profile by tapping the three-dot menu, and any accounts you’ve blocked on Instagram will automatically be blocked on Threads.

If you have a private profile, you’d be able to approve users on Threads who want to follow you and interact with your content, similar to your experience on Instagram.

It’s important to note that Threads works in conjunction with your Instagram account. While you can use it as a standalone app, it is primarily designed to enhance communication with your existing Instagram network, specifically your close friends.
